Identity at NEP

North East Project (NEP) is a design collective comprising of some of the most forward-thinking fashion and product design companies in India. NEP was founded by the Brewhouse and Impulse Social Enterprise’s Empower Initiative that works in the Northeast region of India to eliminate the incidence of human trafficking.

The collective aims to generate awareness about the fight against human trafficking by creating and selling bespoke products that are made from materials produced by members of communities that are at high risk of being trafficked.

Revenues from the sale of products are split 60-40, the larger chunk going back to the community and the smaller chunk being distributed amongst the collective, thus maintaining a profitable and sustainable ecosystem. The first collection, ‘Cut from the Same Cloth’ included travel accessories, furniture, clothing and shoes by: NorBlack NorWhite, 1701, Fizzy Goblet, Safomasi and bhane.

NEP’s identity takes inspiration from the bright colours and tribal patterns of the region. Despite being bold and bright, the identity remains minimal enough to let the design products take centre stage.
